Joseph Turner was born close to Covent Garden in London and entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1789. In his mid-twenties, Turner zeroed in on chronicled scenes. These huge scope paintings separated from nature and highlighted the free, luminous brushwork and theoretical originations for which he got known. Out traveling to Italy, he adjusted his style, leading to his late accentuation on the force of shading and light to make emotional, suggestive scenes.
