Neoclassical Art was part of a general revival of interest in classical thought. The thought of Victorian Neoclassicism was important in the American and French revolutions. The Neoclassical Art is an unemotional form of art that represents the transcendence back to the grandeur of ancient Greece and Rome. It is the reflection of a reaction to the overbred Rococo style and the emotional charged Baroque style. Some of the most renowned Neoclassical painters are Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Jacques-Louis David and Anton Raphael Mengs.
