He was born in Lebanon, Connecticut. He went to Nathan Tisdale’s school in Lebanon and moved on from Harvard College, devoting his recreation to painting, in which craftsmanship he pulled in much consideration. In the episode of the Revolutionary War, he instructed at Tisdale’s school in Boston as an assistant of the first Connecticut regiment with Col. Joseph Spencer. He imagined painting recorded pictures of scenes of the American Revolution and went to Paris, where he painted The Declaration of Independence and the Sortie from Gibraltar. Among his other recorded paintings is The Battle of Bunker Hill, Battle of Quebec, Surrender of Lord Cornwallis, Surrender of General Burgoyne.
