The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood started off as a society of English artists, founded in London in 1848 by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais and William Holman Hunt. Later members included Ford Madox Brown and Edward Burne-Jones, and the group had links to the critic John Ruskin. The movement involves a theatrical romantic style with intricate realism. The artists’ goal was to develop a naturalistic style of art, throwing away the rules and conventions .
