Born in New York, Alfred Maurer was one of the leading American painters to reflect European innovation. Maurer learned at the National Academy of Design, New York, where he got perceived as a refined painter of pictures inspired by James A. M. Whistler and American impressionist William Merritt Chase. From 1897 to 1914, Maurer lived in Paris, where he got acquainted with individual Americans Arthur Dove and Gertrude and Leo Stein. Stein’s Salon was a realized meeting place for Americans and present-day French specialists, where Maurer met Henri Matisse. Matisse’s fauvist paintings’ intense tone and expressive opportunity constrained Maurer to reexamine his specialty’s essentials. Maurer’s painting somewhere in the range of 1905 and 1914 turned into the craftsman whose present for verse articulation had been delivered interestingly.
