Jose Navarro Llorens was a painter and craftsman born in Valencia, Spain, in 1867 and kicked the bucket in 1923. He ventured out around the planet to extend his insight into human expressions. In Morocco, he gained inspiration for many of his works, just as his esteem for the painter Mariano Fortuny. Llorens had an affinity for oriental subjects and culture, as he suspected their way of life was bright and painterly in itself, loaded with quirks he wanted to catch in his work. In 1895 he got an Honorable Mention.
