Gaulli, Baciccio, Giovanni Battista 1639 to 1709 Oil Paintings
Giovanni Battista Gualli, better known as Baciccio was an Italian High Baroque painter. He was born in Genoa in 1639 and died in 1709. Most of his commissions were based out of Rome and included ornate altarpieces and frescoes. Possibly his most remembered work would be "The Triumph of the Name of Jesus" painted on the ceiling of the nave in the Gesu. His work is said to have helped open the door to the next art era: the Rococo movement.
