James Herbert Draper was born in London and taught at the St. John’s Wood Art School and the Royal Academy Schools. He won the Royal Academy Traveling Scholarship in 1889 and learned at the Academie Julian in Paris and Rome. He had just started to display his paintings at the Royal Academy and showed them there consistently between 1887 and his demise. Draper was a painter of groundbreaking and imaginative works who appreciated significant accomplishments around 1900.
