Bingham, George Caleb, America 1811 to 1879 Oil Paintings
George Caleb Bingham was born in Augusta County, Virginia, in 1811 and died in 1879. He was an American painter whose topic comprised early American history artworks, class scenes, and watch works. His work was lost for almost a Century until in the 1930's it was rediscovered. Presently he is viewed as one of the best nineteenth-century American painters. Bingham was a self-trained craftsman, however during the early long periods of his adolescence, he met and became friends with Chester Harding, a celebrated representation craftsman. The latter incredibly affected Bingham's partiality for expressions of the human experience. One of his most famous compositions is classified as "Hide Traders Descending the Missouri River" and now showcased in the Museum of Art in New York.
