The Art Deco movement started just before the end of World War I and continued into the 1920’s and throughout the 1930’s. It depicts a move to luxury and style with the use of very expensive materials, especially prevalent in the design of furniture and jewelry. The Art Decor and Art Nouveau movement both embraced the modern elements. Art Nouveau paintings are all about flowing and about curves, while art deco is about sharp lines.
