Movements

Art Movements are the collective names given to the artworks that are shared by the same artistic style, concept, timeframe in which it is created. There is no fixed rule that decides what is known as a movement in case of art and paintings. The artists associated with one specific movement may not follow the guiding principles, whereas those who belong to another movement may have little principle and features in common. Movements are just a historical convenience for creating a group of artists or art pieces in a certain period of style. This grouping helps in understanding the style and period of specific artists and ideas. The name given to the art movements depends on the art critics or historians and it often involves a bit of witty or sarcasm while giving a name. Movements of art are essentially a 20th century development when there was a variety of paintings and style were evolved.
