James Gale Tyler was born in Oswego, New York, in 1865 and passed on in 1931. At 15 years old, he moved to the city and trained as an oceanic craftsman. There he built up a style that conveyed the overtime of his work. A realistic portrayal with sentimental recommendations and profound tints is what makes up the theme of his seascapes. Tyler turned into a prominent craftsman whose commission list was continually expanding, including Harper’s Bazaar and the Literary Digest.
