William Hunt was perhaps the most influential and regarded specialist in Boston during the late nineteenth century. He was likewise a leading advocate of the French Barbizon School of painting. His engaging character combined with his abilities to make him the leading mediator of feel in New England, where he was one of the primary craftsmen to inject French influence.
