Fragonard was born in Paris, France, and is most popular for painting sentimental scenes of pointlessness and mirth. His painting style is by all accounts the exemplification of the Rococo period. In a stroke of terrible timing, he got the last part of the development and was ruined financially by the French Revolution. He was a productive painter who left a vast collection of work.
