Mathias Alten was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1871 and passed on in 1938. He was an American Impressionist painter. He was a refined scene, seascape, representation, flower, and creature painter. Alten got his schooling from the popular Julian Academy in Paris and the Colarossi Academy. From his profession as a craftsman, he displayed his work in gallery shows. While he was alive, his work was shown at numerous lofty exhibitions, and today his work keeps on being shown in places like the Chicago Institute of Art, the National Academy in New York, and the Corcoran Gallery in D.C., just as numerous other creative outlets.
