Filter list according to painting color palette:
Oswald Achenbach was born in Dusseldorf, Germany in 1827 and died in 1910. He was a German landscape painter. From a young age he studied under his older brother, Andreas Achenbach. At the age of 36 he became a professor of painting at the Dusseldorf School of Art, specializing in landscapes. His works have a luminescent blur to them, focusing on the effects of glowing light and points of rich color. His paintings include scenes from Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. They captivation of nature was idealized in comparision to his older brother who had a more naturalized depiction. It's believed that around the year 1910 he died of inflammation of the respiratory system. He is currently represented at many galleries of modern art in Germany and the United States.
