Born in Budapest Hungary. Husband of Valéria Galimberti. He began his studies in 1903 at the plein-air painting school at the Nagybánya colony, painting in a Neo-Impressionist style. He attended the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich for a short time and went to Simon Hollósy's summer painting school in Técso. In 1907 he entered the Académie Julian in Paris, and in 1908 his work was shown at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Indépendants. He attempted in his painting to combine realistic depiction with decorative pictorial elements, and he was influenced by József Rippl-Rónai, who had discovered his talent. Galimberti used a Fauvist style in his work, enclosing forms with dark contours and using vivid colours. His depictions of houses in Saint-Raphaël are geometric in form; their dynamism points to an interest in Cubism, but, like his wife Valéria, he never ceased to use the natural world as his pictorial starting point.
